Many parents feel confident that their child will grow and master new abilities independently. However there is extensive research linking healthy child development to effective parenting. Children excel when parents provide not only communication, but also affection and listening. Even though parenting style plays a crucial role in the development of a child, almost 70% of parents do not have a sense of awareness when it comes to their own style and how it affects their children. In the UK, with the introduction of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 and Anti-Social Behavior Act 2003, it is evident that children and youths are getting increasingly out of hand. Many parents say that as they get increasingly distanced from their children, they feel a sense of loss (Donnellan Firth, 2010). Hence this essay aims to prove how different parenting style affects the upbringing of a child, with the authoritative style being the most successful.
